Oscar and Janet while aboard the SS Universe, a ship which was used as an explorer for educational purposes. They sailed to Alaska in the summer of 1994.
Oscar and Janet traveled quite often, and in addition to the United States, they enjoyed visiting countries such as New Zealand, Germany, Spain, Russia and several others.
They have many stories to tell of their adventures, including their annual extended excursions in their motor home during winter months. Oscar and Janet were members of an organization that went to various locations to perform missionary work, such as building a ramp for someone in a wheelchair who could not otherwise afford to have it put in, or gutting an old school gymnasium and building a new one in a depressed area of the country that had insufficient funds to cover the cost of the renovation.
The trip in this photo, however, was mostly for pleasure, I believe.
