Oscar Busboom

Oscar & Char in Macon, Georgia on "moving day" 2002

Moving day (eve) in Macon, Georgia on the porch at 1120 Georgia Ave, Macon, Georgia.
We were enjoying some wine, candles and snacks on the wrap-around porch of the southern mansion Dad and Janet owned for more than 25 years. Huge magnolia trees surrounded the house, making the home, built in the mid 1800's difficult to see from the busy street of Georgia Avenue, which was on the "Heritage Tour".
Greg Allman (Allman Bros Band) owned the mansion across the street for some time.

Busbooms

Three generations of Busbooms...Oscar, Bruce and David

Oscar Busboom and Tar Baby taking a rest during their cross-country trip

Oscar and Tar Baby en route from Macon, Georgia to Green Lake, Wisconsin in the 1980s.
Tar Baby loved riding in the side car.

Oscar Busboom and Tar Baby took a thousand mile trip - via motorcycle

Oscar had his BMW motorcycle back in 1971.
I know, because I rode it. About 10 years later, Dad bought the side car just in time to take their chow dog Tar Baby to the "Dome Home" in Wisconsin...all the way from their mansion in Macon, Georgia! Tar loved the ride, wore his goggles with pleasure and was a good boy. Needless to say, they got plenty of looks from other drivers.

25th Anniversary - Oscar and Janet Busboom

On their 25th wedding anniversary, Oscar and Janet had a big bash in their building on their other lot on Green Lake, Wisconsin...just a short walk from their Dome Home. Many people from the "old neighborhood" (Gifford/Flatville, Illinois community) showed up and a grand time was had by all...a great picnic meal was served and many laughs and stories were heard for hours.....and some even into the next day!

Check out their anniversary cake with the "troll" Bride and Groom...you can tell Dad got a kick out of it!
He was so good at smiling....Janet, too!

Busboom Family at Busboom Castle 2009

This photo was taken during the annual Worldwide Busboom Reunion, summer 2009.
We lodged at Busboom Castle and enjoyed visiting with other Busbooms from all over the world who met at Gifford, Illinois July 10 and 11th.
Afterwards, we had our own private "Busboom Reunion" at the castle...a good time was had by all.

Dad and Janet at our house in 2007

We were getting ready to go to cousin Anita (Schluter) & Larry Wilson's wedding reception in Kankakee when this photo was taken in the fall of 2007. Dad was wearing his favorite blue blazer and that beige wool cap that looked so nice on him.

Opa in the Air Force

Opa in the Air Force

This is a rare photo of Opa when he first joined the Air Force back in 1948 at the age of 18. On the back of the original, he wrote "Grrrrrr! I don't bite ya!" because he thought he looked so serious.
